5 - 7 Oct Victorian Weekend

The Ffestiniog Railway is a living museum. We have been running passenger trains since Victorian times and many of those older vehicles have been lovingly preserved, so what better way to show them off than to have a weekend dedicated to that wonderful era. 6 Oct 25th Barnardos 20 mile Sponsored Walk

Take part in the 25th annual Barmouth Walk through spectacular Welsh countryside, raising money in aid of the UK's most vulnerable children. Starting point: The Ysegethin Inn, Tal-y-bont, Gwynedd LL43 2AN Participants can chose to walk 5, 10, 15 or 20 miles around the circuit of Foel Ddu, Cwm Nantcol, Llyn Howell, Moelfre, Pont Scethin and Lyn Erddyn. At each rest-station homemade cakes and hot and cold drinks will be provided by the ladies of our Barnardo’s Barmouth Friends group, free-of-charge. 6 Oct Bangor 10k & Half Marathon

This race starts in the city centre and goes out to the coastline and to the magnificent Penrhyn Castle Estate taking in views of Anglesey, Snowdonia and the surrounding North Wales coastline, then back to the finish in the city centre.

13 Oct Petzl Night Trail Wales

Taking place on Saturday 13th October 2018 at 6.00pm at Coed y Brenin forest park in Wales, the Petzl Night Trail Wales is a race with a difference! Imagine a runnable 3-4km route, not too technical, with enough elevation to sort out the runners. Imagine a race that starts in the dusk of an Autumn Saturday evening, and ends in full darkness. Imagine an event with a real party atmosphere, with a DJ, bar, hot food and a race arena lit up with flood lights. As you can imagine too, head torches are mandatory kit for the race and there will be a sea of head lights winding their way through the trails throughout the evening. 18:00 Entry Fees: £35.00 solo and £50.00 for teams (plus online booking fee and NRW facilities fee). 01341 423459

Our ever-popular Halloween trains are back again this year - with three evenings of Fiendish Family Frolics; filled with creepy costumes, crazy capers and chilling competitions... From Porthmadog you catch the Ghostly Train to Tan-y-Bwlch - the Little Station in the Big, Dark Woods - for an evening of Frantic fun, Fireworks and - possibly - ‘things that go bump in the night’!! 26 Oct Bonfire Night and Fireworks

Barmouth's bonfire and firework display takes place on the beach by the Bath House (LL42 1HB). It is early this year on 26th October - weather permitting, so don't miss out. This is a community event which always needs lots of local support so if you can, please help out. Free entry 01341 280787

27 & Sun 28 Oct Harlech Fire and Sea Festival

At each festival event learn more about the legend of Meirion and his struggle to harness the power of the magical Harlech Torc. Our journey will now take us to Harlech beach, where we invite the public to build to make a defensive line of Sea Castles against the advance of the Seventh Wave. As dusk falls, join the evening campfire lit and attended by the Knights of Ardudwy and watch as the castles are illuminated by biodegradable lanterns.

9.30am to 2pm - Porthmadog Local Produce Market is a lively market that offer, primarily produce either grown, farmed or processed by the stall holders the majority of which trade within Gwynedd. We have on offer an array of produce, from daily staples to speciality items. The market takes place on the last Saturday of every month 

27 Oct Craft Fair

A beautiful range of quality handmade crafts made by the stall holders here in Snowdonia. Crafts vary each month but can include assorted ranges of Jewellery, including Swarovski, Shamballa and bezel dome pendants, photographs on Welsh slate of local scenes, handmade soap and gift sets, baby fleece snuggs and comforters, candles in various designs, framed gifts and handmade cards. Light refreshments available, children and wheelchair friendly.

Take advantage of new morning tours to explore the finer details behind Penrhyn through its architecture, collection and history. We will be opening our gates earlier and as an added bonus we will also be offering you the chance to take a look inside the Castle before it opens for the day. There is now a training meeting every Thursday night. The lifeboat normally launches between 1815 and 1830. (There may be some nights where only shore based training will take place in the boathouse).
